Fisheries management
To an increasing extent, societal concerns are expressed about the management of the fish stocks in the oceans. The PFA fully recognizes the importance of responsible fisheries. The members of the PFA abide by national and international rules and regulations and respect the permitted fishing areas and catch levels established for the various fish stocks.
On the basis of sound research and by adequate fisheries management, including an effective inspection & control of the fisheries, the development of the stocks can be monitored and overfishing prevented.
The PFA believes in the introduction of a TAC based system also in regions outside the EU, such as western Africa and the southern Pacific. Such a system must be based on credible research where all institutes in the regions cooperate. |
